A Brief Word On Tyrese Maxey
In light of the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets exchanging James Harden and Ben Simmons, amongst others (poor Seth Curry — the dude can shoot and was getting something good going with Embiid), I want to put in a word for Tyrese Maxey.
I've seen Tyrese Maxey play in person, and the dude is fast. Really fast. It's the kind of speed that puts pressure on transition defense and perimeter defenders. That’s the kind of opening chess move that makes getting a bucket all the easier. (Imagine Maxey as a slightly more chaotic Ja Morant, not quite as in-control of his abilities as Morant has been this season, but definitively possessing an analogous kind of energy.)
But when it comes to incorporating Harden into the offense, what does that mean? Does that mean 76ers coach Doc Rivers will now have the choice between Maxey’s speed and Harden walking the ball up the court? What then?
